A gyuto that earns its place at the top of the collection. The billet is Obsteel Cru Core Cu Mai, a layered construction of Crucible Steel, copper, and soft iron, forged by Oblivion Blades, and the copper layer runs through the blade as a warm, glowing line that shifts from gold to orange depending on the light. The Crucible Steel core delivers exceptional edge retention and a cutting feel that sets it apart from standard kitchen steel. The forge finish on the upper half and polished bevel below is a combination that balances character with function.
The handle is purple dyed maple burl, vivid and deeply figured, paired with a bog oak bolster that anchors it at the blade. The contrast between the warm copper in the steel and the cool purple of the maple is something you don't plan, it just happens when the right materials come together.
